natural stone paver install

Hi, first post for me. I'm getting ready to install a 400sf paver patio. I used manufactured pavers in my front a few years back, which was relatively easy. This time I'm going with natural stone. I was'nt aware (until delivery) that natural stone comes in varying thicknesses. I'd imagine that I'll need to group the stones in sizes??? Does anyone have some advice on the best way to install these. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

JB

You are about to find out why it is so much more expensive to have natural stone work done vs. manufactured materials.

The good news is that you don't have to sort your stone by thickness. The bad news is that you need to set every stone individually.

lol - Sorry jeffborg, but I can't help but laugh at Agla's first sentence. I was thinking the thought in my head as I read your post, then in the very next post, Agla said it.

And unfortunately, he's right on the money. You'll lay your crushed stone base, then spread a sand bedding course, which will allow you to adjust for the thickness of each of the different stones.

Good luck!

natural stone paver install

That helps solidify my decision......cough up the cash and call in the pros. The stone was donated for an HGTV show, so I'm getting off good with just install costs. Ended up getting someone for $8 a SF which does'nt seem too bad considering the work.

Thanks

Jeff
