We use accelerators with concrete/mortar and always cover(for a few days) with concrete blankets if freezing temps are expected. The blankets are also great for covering materials and the worksite to prevent freezing.

Tom how well do insulating blankets work to keep piles from freezing? i have wanted to try them but thought they were mostly for keeping the heat of curing concrete.?

We use them to cover material piles as well. Works great.

They work very well. You can expect to pay +/- $100 for a 12' x 25' with a R value around 6.0

Natural 12

Midwest Canvas Corp. is one company that makes them. We buy ours through Sunbelt Rentals (formerly Nations Rents). Also, It looks like there's a White Cap Construction Supply in Raleigh. They carry them as well. www.whitecap.net
