I just saw a supplier recently that had what they called a 'Turbo Blade'.

It had the regular segments like a diamond blade, but each segment had grooves cut out of it, giving it a more toothy look.

I assume that by calling them 'turbo', they something about them is faster.

Anybody know anything about these blades? What 's the benefit over a traditional blade?

I just saw those at a trade show recently. I wondered if it provided better cooling so you could cut for longer periods of time? They definately were cool looking.

The blade your supplier is telling you about is one of the fastest cutting blades on the market. It combines the technology of Turbo blades with segmented blades. For years the industry has only used a segmented blade. Most have keyhole slots that seperate each segment. The segments are smooth and will wear evenly while you are cutting. The slots between the segments allow the blade to run cooler than a Turbo blade. The turbo blade is a continuous rim blade with a Castellated cutting edge. Thus TURBO. It is a very fast cutting blade with NO segments. Smooth cutting too. The only downfall is that it tends to heat up fast and wear out faster, due to the heat. There are cooling holes around the perimeter that help cool the blade, but not as cool as a segmented blade. So, technology bounced back with a TURBO SEGMENTED BLADE. The combining of the turbo edge and the keyhole slot cooling has made this blade an excellent choice for cutting pavers, wall block, reinforced concrete and any Very Hard material on the market. It will even cut Granite. Just becareful and make sure you are buying a Laser Welded Blade, so as not to cause any injury to you or your workers. Hope that has answered your question....Ciao

I haven't tried these yet, but I always like to buy the premium blades ... I find them to be the most cost effective. Maybe Blazewizard could send me some info.

We have always used Turbo Blades manufactured by Diamond Products out of Elyria, Ohio. They cost a little more. However, in all the blades we go through I have had only one problem. And, they replaced it-not prorated-but replaced it! I like to stick with what works for me. Plus they last a real long time.

I understand how you feel, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. That works in most cases. But have you ever considered, in the long run HOW MUCH MONEY you can save, by trying something NEW? The blades we are discussing are Turbo Segmented. They have the tendencie of lasting longer than Turbo blades. For all the skeptics out there....Give GSD a try.....And by the way, If its broke, I will fix it....
