Pool deck suggestions anyone?

I have a back yard renovation job in the design phase. In this back yard, there is an existing small swimming pool with a very plain looking concrete deck. I'd like to hear some suggestions from the forum members about what materials they think look good around a pool (and links to photos or photos posted in the thread would be a big help).

I know it somewhat depends on the style/color of the surrounding environment but I'm not looking for particulars about colors or textures, only general suggestions about materials that look good, hold up well, and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I can only tell you that the pool is a curvilinear shape and the overall design would best be described as natural or informal.

Although you can use tumbled concrete pavers, lately I have been using travertine pavers. They are very beautiful and also cool on your feet, which is a plus around a pool. They are dry laid and some colors have a matching bullnose for the pool. The Andes Collection have two widths for bullnose...12"wide and 24" wide. If your pool is curvilinear, use the 12" as there are less cuts.

I have a page on my website about them with some photos.

Who's your distributor, Susan? We were introduced to them by Falls Run Stone & Stucco in Stafford, but we have yet to use them.

Oh, and sdinenno, you might want to check out http://www.artisticpavers.com/ . It's actually a pretty nice product, and it at least seemed cooler underfoot than other pavers.

Then there's always concrete with an xcel deck coating. Way nicer than kooldeck, in my opinion.
