Paver Estimating
I Am submitting a bid on 800 sq ft driveway
Cambridge Cobble Tumbled.
This paver install is somewhat new to me. Can anyone help with how to bid on a project like this? Easy access, on a slope. With additional 240sq ft of block wall. Any help is appreciated

Ok I'm going to try and do my best let's pretend the driveway measures 50 x 16 and you are trying to build a retaining wall on both ends of 50 x 2.5' height counting the block that will be buried, easy pattern a place to disposal excavated area, no geogrid on wall, 12" base
300 man hours @ 45.00 = 13,500
50 yds of base material $1,250.00
4 yds of bedding sand. $100
1 string. $3.00
2 cans of paint. $12.00
1000 sqf. of geotextile (recommend it) $150.00
140 linear feet of edging with spikes every foot. $280
15 bags of polymeric sand. $300
3 Delivery Fees $450.00
40 gallons of fuels $120.00
15 lbs grass seed $30.00
2 bales of straw $16.00
900 sqf of pavers @ $3.8 = 3,420
260 sqf of retaining wall blocks @ 13.00 = 3,380
Coping for wall 110 lft @ 4.50 = 495
glue for coping 6 @ 10.00 = 60
3/4 gravel for behind walls 10yds @ 30 $300
geotextile for behind wall 300sqf = 45
4" drainage pipe and connectors = 100
Wear and tear on diamond blade $75.00
Total $24,086
(this doesn't include taxes that you or customer have to pay on materials)
This would be my price, all materials have 15% up-mark.
and my hourly rate is based on my overhead, hope this can give you an idea.
But I really hope you know how to do the job properly

The cost I came up with is fairly close to yours 19500.00. The install will be done by experenced mason I employ. The cost is what I am concerned with. I lost my a-- one other time without asking for help first. Thank you for your help. Peteg

Next time try to be more clear about all details just saying 800 sqf. of pavers and 240 of wall doesn't make too much sense.
Try to tell us about size of wall lenght and width, same with patio, type of wall, etc.
Wish you the best

Could you explain what's involved in the job and how you came up with that figure.

Agreed. Not enough info given anyway.
FWIW, I'm told by a supplier rep here that the "average" interlock job is around $15/sq.ft. and the "average" wall block install around $45/f.f.
So using those averages that'd put yours at $12,000 (driveway) + $10,800 (wall), for a total of $22,800. I don't price by the square foot, but I do check my figures against it to see if they're out-of-whack.

I agree, I would not do that job. Unless you really need the work. Even then he'll be standing over you exhorting you to go FASTER if it's by-the-hour.
