I have a customer who wants me to tell them what the height the grading should be around the addition to their house. I am new to the grading and drainage side of the business. I want to do this right because he wants to put a nice unilock dimentiontial stone wall around the corner of the house as well.

I was wondering if you gentlemen and women could possible show me what would be correct based on these pics?

Also how high should the dirt come up along the fron and side of the house?

How high would you bring the wall up?

He wants to know the height of the grade according to the house so he can have the utilities put in and i am not sure what to tell him.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much for all your help!

Also i have bigger pictures i just cant get them to post, so i could email them to you if you like.

It looks like it is already too high along the front. I think that you will find that the building code in your area will have a minimum 8" separation between the sill (most likely top of foundation) or wood siding and the grade.

You should identify your location in your profile. It is both polite and helpful. At least the state, if you want to be stealthy.

Is there a web site that shows regulations? I am from Peoria, IL if that helps at all.

Or do i have to call a certain office to find out these regulations?

and if you were to grade it how would you do it?

Thanks again

Just call the building department in your town and ask. They won't follow you around to find what job you are working on. Just tell them you want to know for general info, not for a specific job. Their job is to tell you.
