Timber wall question.

I went out on a call where a couple had a timber wall built. The wall is around 50ft. long, by 5.5ft tall. There are NO dead-man. Its one of those walls that have the 6X6's all stacked up horizontally, with 8X8's every 4' in front, vertical to the wall. Behind the wall, there is a 40' plus slope that runs straight down to the wall.

Needless to say it is buckled out by 5-7"s. My question is, has anyone excavated behind a wall of this size and tried to attach dead-man, and pull the wall back into place?

I thought it would be easier,(and maybe around the same price) to just remove the existing wall and replace with a redesigned block wall.

Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Steve

Depends

If you can get an excavator on top of the wall to dig out behind it and then back for the deadmen. Then a machine could push the wall into position. Use a chainsaw to cut holes for the deadmen and toe spike into place front and back.

It will always look like a repaired wall but it probably would be cheaper than building a new block wall. I have always found taking down this kind of wall is always a PITA because of all the spikes and disposal.
