Acid staining plain concrete patio to look like big tiles

I have a plain concrete patio that I want to acid stain, then create the look of 3' x 3' tiles after staining. I want to cut grooves in the concrete to make it look like large tiles were laid. I've looked at crack blades, but what saw and technique is recommended to get perfectly straight lines using a circular saw? I thought about putting down some steel guides to run the saw next to. I need a diamond blade that is about 1/4" thick to get the look of grout. Any suggestions?

I have done a job similar in the past. We cut 18x18 "Tiles". I just used 1x stock as a guide with a circular saw and diamond blade. The homeowner didn't like how small the lines where so i took my 4" angle grinder and ground them out. They ended up looking like a chiseled edge. It was time consuming but looked good.

Wow, finally got a reply! LOL! So, did it end up with a V groove? I think you cut at a 45' angle, right?...can't imagine doing it any other way. A picture would be great if you can post one...thanks!

I believe there is a blade called a crack chaser for 4 or 7" grinders that will give you the v groove. Check with Joe Wizard at Garden State Diamond.
