questn Patio flooding??

How do you guys keep your patio's from turning into a pond? We have been getting hit hard with rain the last 2 weeks. 3 times I have shown up to a 3 inch pond. I'm more curious to different techniques etc. I've never had this much of a problem before.

I'm assuming your talking about the base prep area.....because if your not I don't think I want to even start this discussion

I always try to have tarps in the trailer big enough to cover our dig sites or work areas before final compaction. It may not stop run-off from entering, but it keeps deep soaking away.

Yeah the base. I just started laying pavers yesterday. That area is wet, but fine I guess. I have an open trench for the gutter DS. I guess I should have dug out 2 more additional drain trenches. All the water is gathering at the edge of the excavated area.

Yup - and dig it out to the bottom of the base prep, so the entire depth of the prep can drain, it that's possible. We've also had problems with retaining walls a few times... Those times call for pumps.

My pitch is fine, I just don't have enough outlets for the water to drain. We have been getting hit with pop up thunderstorms for the last 2 weeks. If not everyday, every other day. At least I don't live in Texas.

Jeff, sorry but that picture doesn't make me feel so bad anymore. Sheesh! How long did that back you up?

That was 2 years ago, nightmare client. The wife would go from window to window in the house, peeking out on us to see what we were doing. All day. Every morning they had a sheet of paper with questions on it for me. Every morning (how many questions can there be when building a single wall?). I remember all that more than I remember the rain.

If I recall, I pumped it the day the pic was taken, and there may have been another day between that and us being able to get back to work.

Shoulda hid beneath one and popped up in front of her as she was looking out and scared the out of her.

Maybe that would have solved the problem.
