Stone steps

Almost done, a little tweaking here and there.
Sod and plants are coming soon.

So, one question.... since the masons had the columns built, filled half capped by the time I got there, it was too late to remind them of the lights that I wanted on the top of the columns.
Good thing client didn't want any after talking further with her.

What else do I need to do to the columns?
Another smaller course of bluestone?
Some type of ornamental top thingy poo?
Just leave it?

Just looking for suggestions since these are by far the biggest steps I've ever built.

Different view.
And yes, I have to correct the concrete that pushed out of our forms during the pour and re-stone an area or 2.

Nice, how much did you charge for that? Is this block underneath stairs and all?

I would say leave it and maube do some nice pots with plants that will drape over maybe on the top two.

Let's just say a new truck costs less. A nice truck. With a hemi.

No block under the stone on the steps, all concrete & rebar.
Walls are blocked.

I don't think that I would add anything to the top of those columns to accentuate them. They are very dominant already. It might not be a bad idea to be strategic in your planting plan to take some of that dominance away and even out the entire composition.

I don't know how the property is being used, but nice fencing going out from the top set of columns (parallel to the wall) would do a lot to visually balance things out and reduce the contrast between the house and the stonework. That would serve as a nice back drop for planting on the slope as well.

Is this a lake front home? I'm curious as to the context of this. It seems like the back of the house, yet it is the beginning of a landscape that seems much greater than the house itself. It almost seems like the house is not even part of this.

Bottom pillars put a small statue, the rest those little round balls on a short cone. I think everything is brass or iron. Then landscape like crazy. By the way, awsome work once again!

No lake front home here. Just a client that wanted better access to the back yard instead of a crumbling, slick & tilted walkway, which we removed.

Pre-demoltion.

Personally, I wanted a more casual approach with that incorporated a winding stairway broken up with several raised stone patios and small water feature between patios but since they are the ones paying me, we took the more symetrical approach.
