Outdoor Fireplace Help
Do outdoor fireplaces come in kits?
Do you have to have a permit?
Are they dry layed or wet layed?
What would be avg price for 4'wide5'tall?
Have had tong of experience with masonry but never with outdoor fireplaces and i could use some advice from anyone who has had experience with them.

If you go to the "search" function and type the term in, you'll come up with a few threads with lots of good information on those questions. I'm on that list of tradesmen interested in the outdoor fireplace.

4' wide x 5' high would be under the classification of "mini - fire".
I don't think that your fireplace would be tall enough to have sufficient draw.

Check with a local unilock dealer, they are carrying them in kits.

I've put a call in to Whitacre Greer - they make fire brick and my contact there knows the president of the company that makes the kits (or maybe licenses their manufacture?) for Unilock.
I may be able to get a nice tutorial put together.

OUr local stone dealer (Semco, out of Perryville MO) sells the kits also. I just noticed them in my catalog.

Fire Rock - Should I take it that you're working on the tutorial? I didn't get the return email, so you may need to resend it.

I replied that I would do whatever I could to help, BUT, you will probably not be impressed by my writing skills.
I have a lot of photographs and can provide information about various methods of construct. Perhaps a phone conversation to create an outline of what you would like covered in order to create a rough draft.

We just put in a Fire Rock kit in my backyard to give it a whirl. What a quick system. So far so good.

Sounds good. I'll try to work something out in the next few days then give you a jingle.
