atrium patio drain: center or on the side?

I'm having a flagstone atrium patio installed tomorrow. The guy asked if I want the patio drain to be in the center of the patio or to the side.

The patio is in a 13'x8 atrium, surrounded by the house on all sides. It seems center is the safest for drainage. Would it be foolish to consider placing the drain to the side just for looks?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You can go either way, but if you want looks, just by placing the drainage on the side will definitely conceal it. The only problem is you may notice a slight slope through your patio from the highest point to the lowest point where the drain is.

If you want to have the entire outside edge level, then you'll have to have the drainage in the center.

It's really up to you what you want to do, either way is fine, it's really the aesthetics that would make the decision for you.

Thanks! I went with the center to keep the entire outside edge level. Using a drain cover that blends in.
