rough base surface question

I'm just about ready to put down the bedding sand for a patio I'm doing, but while marking it out and getting the area square for the pavers, the base has become dry and rough. Should I go over it again with the compactor to re-smooth it out or just go ahead with the bedding sand?

Thanks in advance.

A dry base means nothing as long as it is +/- 3/8" over a 10' run, screed sand , lay and collect your money. maybe even have a beer with the customer on the new pavement.

Within +- 3/8, actually closer to a 1/4 either way. Just a few loose areas, roughed up from being on it putting in a step and plant bed border.

If you even have the slightest doubt (which you do because you asked) run the packer over it again. You can't over pack and there is nothing more aggravating then trying to screed your sand and having your base gravel messing you up because of some loose stuff.
