How much sinkage???

I am starting a 2300 sq ft ep henry blue stone job this week. 1800 sq ft is concrete over lay. I will be screeding the concrete sand right on top of the concrete.

I am installing bull nose copping around the pool with adhesive and having the blue stone go right up against it. I need to know how much higher i should plan on screeding the sand, so once i hit it with the mallet/ walk on it etc it is at the right height.

The height difference between the bullnose paver and the blue stone slab is 1/2 inch, so there will not be a whole lot of sand down. I know with pavers to add an extra 3/8s, but with pavers you run the plate over them.

What do you think? And yea, the concrete is 10 years old with no cracks and in great shape. I am hoping this job goes smoothly, and i imagine it will since it is pretty straight foward.

I laid a large tennyson patio when it first came out. how much it settles depends on how big the piece is the 12 x 12 will settle a lot more than the 24 x 24 . i would scree out a small area and play with the heights
If i was going to do another one I would do it on tamped screenings instead of sand

So your saying to use stone dust and run the compactor over it? Remember, my job is on top of concrete.

Stonehenge is on a distinguished road
If you're only putting down 1/2" of sand, it's going to depend how wet the sand is - dry sand is going to flow well and not compact much, wet sand will stay a little clumpy and likely leave a little room for settling. But I wouldn't guess it'd be more than 1/8"-1/4".

If i was going to do a normal install ( over modified ) I would lay them on tamped screenigs not sand to minimize the different amounts of settling. In your case that wouldnt work so i would scree out a small area and see how much they tap in . Try a 1/4 in. high Its always easier to bring the edge down than the field up
