Outdoor Kitchen (Complete)

What a timely thread the other outdoor kitchen thread was. I'm working on a plan for a full outdoor kitchen. The element I need some input on is the water. They want a fully functioning sink.

I'm wondering how we accommodate a water line, taking into consideration midwest winters. Also wondering about how/where to run the water once it hits the drain.

Any input welcome.

here, code for the outdoor sink is same as for indoor....it should be tied into the septic.....but........

For plumbing, I had my irrigation guy run a piece of 1" poly from a the house to the sink on a seperate line. When he comes to blow out the sprinkler in the fall, they also blow out the sink line.

What about using a curb stop with a drain. It will still need to be installed below frost line but it will be permanent.

I had to run water to a pool house that had a bar, changing room with sink etc. Same as pennscapes in that I had my irrigation guy run 1". The sink drain taps into a section of 4" that runs to a catch basin.

Wouldn't the drain have to eventually follow the same path as in-house drains, since they'd be washing food off and stuff, same as they would in an indoor kitchen. You wouldn't want food scraps or whatever going into a storm water catch basin would you?

I haven't done any outdoor kitchens yet (one guy called for a quote but my 8 wk backlog scared him away), but my initial thought would be the same as the others...run an irrigation line the same as you would for outdoor sprinklers or if you were running a line out to a backyard garden to set up a raised sprinkler/spigot. It goes without saying that the line to the sink would not be connected to the irrigation system though. :-)
