MK Brick Saw

Does anyone use (or have used) one of those MK chop saws for pavers, block etc? I saw a few threads here regarding a paver block splitter and that's an option too. I've been using a concrete saw to make my cuts and then wacking the edge with a hammer for a the distressed look. I've got 4000 sf of pavers to install and my back is already broke. Any one have any thoughts on one of those saws vs a paver splitter? Thanks.

Hi ttt, just bought a mk 2005 pro a gas powered saw. Good power , sturdy construction, bloody heavy to move, ok with two guys. I'm pretty fussy with cutting, i really like good continuous lines so went with the wet option. Also have a bx3 a dry saw with the sliding table , if you buy anything make sure the table slides. No saw cut is going to give you that distressed look so if that's important the splitter may be the better option. Hopr that's helped some. Shux

Just letting you know that amazon.com has this for a great price right now. Also, there is a promo for an additional 10% off and if you are an A9 member you get another 1.57% off. It ends up being like <$1800 including shipping.

I am posting this because I figured it might help some of you out. I hope it doesn't violate any site policy.

We use a MK100 Tracker and it's been great so far. Not a lot of power but we've never once tripped a breaker. The "tracker feature is nice-the table runs smoothly on wheels.

Definitely do a Google search for any MK product before buying locally-there are some good deals out there.

I've been using an MK-101 10-inch for years and I've only had to replace the on/off switch once.

Very reliable saw.

Oh and as for blades, I use one that Home Depot sells for $89.99 called an "Omega", (if I'm not mistaken). I've tried the so-called "Pro" blades that sell for hundreds of dollars, but I keep coming back to these Home Depot specials. They're long lasting, they cut like butter, and they're only ninety bucks.

I appreciate all the replies. I think I'm going to go with the MK2001 saw. That will handle all of my paver jobs with ease. Starting a saw when I need to make a cut then stopping it then starting it and so forth make an electric saw pretty appealing.

We bought a Felker wet saw, 3 HP motor, sliding table, 4 wheels to roll around & a foot pedal so u can keep your hands on the pavers, stone, block. Couldn't do without it & I can't even imagine someone would cut in a paver patio with a cut-off saw. My back hurts just thinking about it.
