no good base rock

Have a contract where the buyer supplied base rock. It was dry so I wet it down first with the hose full on the lift. The whacker got stuck in the rock / fines mud stuff. It bogged way down and stopped moving. I had to push really hard to get it out of its little mud hole.
I told the guy to buy the rock from a specific supplier (3/4 under crush road base) highway approved. Welp he went aheat and got some jippo crush with not enough fines.(it looked good)?? So now Im stuck with crap base on what I assumed was a tested approved product and spikes go into it like butter. I dont know what the hell to do. Do I eat the job, refund the money or what? Mabye tell him he messed up and how i can use the base 8 in deep and just replace the top 3 inches in good crush? Or should I just say oh well lets see if it works becoase im not responsable for owner supplied products?(in the contract) Pavers go in tommorw.Mabye ugggh my first pave job gont south . Can i sleep tonight? no!lol got to love this buis.

Stonehenge is on a distinguished road
If the compactor got stuck, I'd think there was too much fines in there instead of the other way around.

Anyway, for my money, whenever the client provides labor or materials, all bets are off for warranties, and your situation is the perfect example why. Or maybe they promise to compact it and instead of a Wacker or Bomag, they use a handmade tamper constructed from a 2x4 and plywood (I saw a DIY book showing how to build one like this).

I hope this one turns out well for you. In the future, I'd shy away from any clients wanting to provide materials or labor.

I think you may need The P2400 Intestinator installed.

Uneven fines in the mix, segragation not by me, I used a shovel on the finish spread not a rake . Uggh The fines were clay like, not sand, Jippo crusher up on the hill, great cheap dirt road rock. He saved umm 50 bucks!
