Ponds?

Hello,

I build Ponds and Waterfalls. Hardscape doesn't really sound right when refering to ponds and waterfalls but theres no Pond thread...yet.

Welcome aboard P-man Paul,

So often the pond work we do primarily involves the use of lots of stone, so hardscapes seemed to fit the bill for where to put pond stuff - but hey, if the topic gets so full it needs it's own space, I'll be happy to provide it.

Enjoy the site!

Jeff

I'll see if this pic loads ok.

If it's sized ok then I'll post a thread from start to finish on this one.

Welcome aboard Pondman Paul. I spent a couple minutes looking at your album. I like the project with the double falls under the bridge. I'll go back and look at more of your projects this week. Very nice work!

Nice work Paul! I used to live up there, in Derry. Hey , it was 68 here the other day!! Don't miss the cold for months on end anymore.
I think hardscapes fits the bill here. Waterscapes can definitely be in a classification by theirselves but i would still consider them hardscapes.

Nice work. I'm curious who you use to supply your pond materials. And are you happy with product and customer support? Like many I've "got my feet wet" with Aquascape but am curious what else exists.

I normally use aquascapes pond kits for my pond installs but the double waterfall with the bridge in the pics I posted has 2 Savio biofalls at the customers request.

I like Aquascapes and have had no problems with their products so far. Until I have a reason to switch products I'll stick with Aquascapes. I've got installing their pond kits down and I like the results. I use "Cavicchio's" in Massachusetts who have Aquascapes pond kits in stock. Best investment was the pro foam gun kits. I used 25 cans of pro foam on the double waterfall with the bridge and you can walk on any rock in the waterfall without moving anything. I designed the falls for the homeowners kids to be able to "play" in the waterfalls.

I was debating on becoming a "certified" Aquascapes contractor but I like the freedom of being able to design and build ponds to suit the homeowners wishes. If I was "certified" I wouldn't have been able to build the doulbe waterfall with the bridge because the customer wanted the Savio biofalls. That was to nice a project to pass up so for now I'm independant.

How are you going about marketing ponds?

I built the display pond I posted a picture of for a local garden center for no charge, they supplied all materials and I supplied all the labor. That was my marketing program for last year. The garden center got a nice pond display and I have a place to take customers to show them the Aquascapes pond systems I install. I'm always looking for ways to market myself, my license plate was my latest idea.

I sent mailings out to my previous customers letting them know we now install water features and have added it to my regular advertising. I also plan on sending a promo CD called "Create a Paradise" created by Aquascape to my best customers. It's a killer piece of marketing material. They really know how to market the "water feature lifestyle." After I watched it, I felt guilty I didn't have a serious water feature in my own yard.
