Outcropping Stone Retaining Wall

I'm in the process of planning/designing retaining walls for a walk-out basement area. Each wall will start out approximately 5 feet high and taper down to about 1 foot. Each wall will be about 30 feet long. I plan to use Fon Du Lac outcropping rather than the typical cast blocks like Keystone. What is the typical/easiest way to set stones of this size? Can I use a skid steer with pallet forks?
Any advise or tips would be appreciated.

Woah, FRANKFORT?

Do they stiil light up the green in December and is the Bierstubbe still there?

For an outcropped wall, I'm not sure I would trust natural stone to stay put. Too much back hydrostatic pressure in my opinion. Keystone has a new product out called "Century Wall" which is capable of interfacing with Standard units, and by itself will go to hieghts of 11'. I will have a photo show comming soon.

I would look more into the segmental wall products, or build a CMU wall and face it with Rox, or El Dorado stone.

Nothing wrong with outcropping for that app. It give a nice look, should be running around $200 to $325 per ton installed. just make sure you have plenty of washed gravel behind it and it's large stone don't try to cut corners and install the small stone! pieces 3 to 5' wide and 3 to 7' long graded into 6" to 8" thick. Wholesale cost of the stone should be in the $75 to $100 per ton range delivered.
