On a new paver driveway ?

Do you have to wait a period before you can drive on it after an install ?

Why would you need to wait? There shouldn't be anything that needs to set up. Though your client may be skittish about driving on it. Some of ours are - don't want their cars parked on something so pretty.

Just asking - I am not doing a job and have never done a drive yet, but a friend of mine is getting one done now and the contractor told him not to drive on it for 3 weeks. Also his neighbor got one done last year and he didn't drive on it for a couple weeks. I told him I didn't know why the contractor told him that - there should be no settling if you compact correctly.

The contractor should be driving a compactor over the pavers, so a car should be OK.

Possibly there's still frost in the ground in your area, and that's his concern. If so, he probably shouldn't be putting in the drive to begin with.

Speaking of paver drives- what do you estimate your productivity at for excavation exisiting asphalt & soil and base prep 8" thick using roller for compaction.

About 1000 sqft per minute....

I just call a local asphalt company, tell them to get it prepped for us, then tell us when it's ready.

Most depends on what you have to haul away the material. If you can load out with semi truck each carrying out 20 to 22 ton at a time you can make some good time. Access and storage is the biggest question of production and that can only be determined by the site.
