Paver Pool Deck Cleanouts and Skimmer

We are doing a paver pool deck for a homeowner. The pool company is telling us to cement the pavers around the riser into the aggregate base. Also, cement the riser, which is plastic, to the cemented pavers. Any one ever do it like this? Am I missing something.

What is your method for this process?

Peace,

Rex

Rex:

Typically, the risers for the skimmer and auto fill are placed on sliude collars that you raise elevation either by adding a ring, or by knocking back down to the top. In a pour case where we only have to raise an inch or so, we use 200 MPH tape to hold the top on, then the pour takes care of the structure after it sets up. What we do is frame a box around the skimmer and pour a small pad that you will cut pavers around. If you want, you can add some dye to the mud so it will blend into the pavers. Another way it can work is if you pre cut the pavers around the skimmer, then wet set them into the mud similarly to how you set a boarder. The top of the skimmer is usually set about an inch above finish grade and ramped up to.
Sometimes you can set the skimmer at the time the pool coping is placed and that works out as well.
