problem with paver light install

Was doing my first light install, everything going good until I tested second half of lights. My first 5 were fine, then sixth dim, then seventh fine, then 8 9 were dim. I have plenty of juice as the lights are 7 watt and I have a 121 transformer, its a short run of only forty feet and i rechecked the connections. Can the lights be bad? I didn't have a volt meter but it doesn't seem like volt drop since seventh is ok? help please!

What size wire are you running to the lights? I dont like to put more than 5 lights per wire, no matter how long the run is.

I believe its 12/2. I am less than half the allotted wattage for the transformer.

Most likely in the wiring layout......sounds like just ran the wire and connected the lights to it..............it makes sense the last ones are dimmer.

My best solution would be to run a wire from the transformer to the center of the wire run the light are on....therfore having 5 light on each side of the 'T".......

I hate the paver lights as the transformer is pretty 'rinky dinky' as are the lights.......seven watts.....what is that? I'd throw in a better 300 watt transformer. Most transformers shold only be ran at about 75% of max voltage, therefore that little 121 watt transformer is maxed out just about, especially when you include voltage drop due to the wire run.

I have done low voltage lighting...As Penn has said, the transformer is probably not sufficient ...I would change that first and then, if that does not work, switch the lights around to check them...Good Luck...

The funny thing is that I tried to buy a more expensive transformer and they gave me the little one. It is probably the transformer, I will try a bigger one on monday since this one is now shot. 9 lights at 7 watts is only 63 plus drop, isn't that about 75%? Oh well they better give me my money back.

I also like Penn's idea of splitting the lights so an even number are radiating from a "T".
