Got any raised patio ideas?

we do quite a few raised patios (such as the ones in the pictures) over the course of a season. currently i've got a client who wants something on a smaller scale, where the large ledgerock/outcroping won't work. so i'm looking for other ideas. the patio will be multi-level from 1'-2.5' high w/pavers as the paved surface. what about a 4-5" guillotined ledgerock or thicker flagstone? it will be dry laid, so it needs to fit that application and still be sturdy enough.

any thoughts are appreciated.

Stonehenge is on a distinguished road
A 4-5" thick, 8" deep snapped-face stone should hold up just fine - the top row or tow might be a little weak, so you might consider blind mortaring them, and using larger stones where you anticipate foot traffic, like steps. We've built walls with steps in them made from stone this size and they've held up just fine.

If I am not mistaken, Eden stone somewhere on the Lake Michigan Coast used to offer gauged pieces of out cropping, at 7.5" thick.

Depending on how heavy the stone is, I'm thinking they are not going to move if you set them into the dirt...Maybe I'm all wet though...
