Christmas lighting decoration

I've never tried this, but heard about some people doing pretty decent by installing outdoor Christmas lighting for people.

I'm figuring it may keep you busy near the end of November through early December and then maybe in mid January when you take them down and store it for people. Shrug, may keep you busy for a month or 2.

Anyone ever try this? How would you bid for this?

I know some here have. Some have done well, others, not so much.

For my market, IMHO, the population is just too frugal to pay for this service. If you live in a more metropolitan area, then it might be worth going after.

The outfit that I worked for before venturing out on my own had a pretty good bit of christmas decorating to do everyyear. We even decorated and broke down the family christmas tree for a fair amount of people.

there is a christmas decor francise in town. As of today (10/26) they have been doing installs for approximately two weeks. This time period is one of my busiest times of the year between weekly maintenance, fall clean-ups, and a fair volume of aerations. We will not slow down for about 3 weeks, and by then I believe most of the decorating season will be over. It may work for an installation focused company who can plan to shift gears two weeks ago but not for my maintenance comapny.

I purchased a distributorship this year and thru their marketing and my own I'm getting afew more jobs. Last year I only did 5 places. This year I have those 5 plus already sold 4 more. I get access to a great product line and at a lower price than what I have been paying. Only downfall so far is you can't buy just what you need have to buy the whole bundle. But so far will use everything.

I tried it for a couple of years when we weren't as busy with construction as we are now. The money was good but I don't miss climbing ladders and walking on roofs. I know another landscape contractor who bought a christmas decor franchise and does very well. His company installs lights for 7 or 8 of my neighbors with prices ranging from $800 to $6000. They did five jobs here on saturday and everybody has them on already like they don't know how to operate the timers!

I am interested in adding Christmas lighting to help keep an employee all year. I dont want to spend alot of money to buy into a franchise. Would anyone on here explain how the service is bid out as far as pricing goes?
Thanks
Robert
