Kubota question?

I'm looking into getting a kubota bx24 and was wondering if anyone has used one and how they hold up in the landscape industry?

Do you like it?
Is it too small?

Any help would be awesome!

I have a Kubota mower, a ZD28F. It's my second and I won't buy another. I've had serious hydraulic problems with both machines, and at 1500 hours I'm pretty sure I've got a drive motor failing. The first machine had the drive motors replaced under warranty, this one is out. I bought the second machine because it was supposed to be an improved version, but I've had many of the same problems with it as the first.

I know this isn't the machine you asked about, but if it is representative of the brand, I'd stay clear. The dealer only stocks real basic parts, and when the machine goes down I usually have to wait a week or so for parts. I can't afford that down time.

Hi The machine you are talking about is a backhoe loader/ compact tractor sort of thing i think so i think it will be different to the above mentioned zd machines ( which are being updated) so may have differnt issues. It depends on a few things, If you are mostly using the machine for its backhoe, if so then a mini digger would be better in my opinion. If you are using it mostly for use with the loader a skid steer mite suit you better. The size of the machine means there is hardly any wait to put behind it when digging etc. It is a usefull machine for smaller operations dependant on the size of the jobs you do. I worked for 2 years in a kubota dealer and was shocked at the cost and mark up of the parts. The tractor unit itself will be very reliable but im not sure about the digger attachments.

I'll agree with Rob. The BX24 is meant for the homeowner, in my opinion. A small excavator and a decent skid steer will both fit on a reasonably small trailer, and are much more capable in any of their functions than a BX24. Sure, a bright and shiny BX24 is pretty, but if there is serious work in your future, find a couple of used machines like the excavator and skidsteer...you'll get more bang for the same amount of money.
