I believe the Bobcat 463 is 36" wide - if you're moving any quantity of rock or trees of 2" caliper or bigger, I might think that would be the better option. I don't think there are any attachments a mini has that the Bobcat skidsteer line doesn't have, it should all still fit on a trailer that's less than 10,000 pounds (CDL issue), and gives you more lifting capacity for that width.

That's my $.02, anyway.

check out the new Ditchwitch sk650. awesome machine, more lift, height and speed than a Dingo. I like my Dingo, but my next machine will be a sk650.

I like the ideal of a mini over a bobcat for the portability and riding on the back seems that you would have a better view of what you are doing with less probability of taking out a fence in a tight spot. There are so many different uses with these machines and with the work force getting tight here I need something that can replace people.

The Dingo ate your baby?

Just as a side note, depending on the scope and scale of the work you are doing, and your typical accessibility, taken out a section of fence and re-installing it is pretty easy and inexpensive. If you're moving a lot of material, skid steers are the way to go.

I have used both the mini-bobcat (dingo) and full size skid steers and the both have their uses, just depends on the application. But if you are spending a lot of time moving 1/4 cy of topsoil at a time, just to get through a gate, then pull out the post and use the skid steer.

Another manufacturer to look at that was at the PLANET trade show was Boxer Equipment - Big Power in All Places. Very cool equipment and also an optional trailer that towed the machine and several of the most popular components, pretty powerful too.

as far as mini's i like the RamRod 1150 and bobcat MT55, The RamRob is built very tough and always had plenty of power when i used it, the bobcat is not bad just didnt have the same lifting power the RamRod did, the down side is both are more exp than the toros from what i have seen

We've had really good luck with Ram Rod products, both tired and track units.

A local dealer just started carrying the Boxer units, looking forward to renting one on the next backyard job.

Sk650. I have demoed other units, none compare in power to this. Controls arent the best, but not difficult, the vermeer has best controls, but really lacks power. Search my user name I wrote up a long review of both machines a while back.

After demoing the Vermeer and Ditch Witch machines we went with the SK650 for the same reasons syzer gives in his review. It's not the most refined machine but in the end more power means the ability to do more work. I didn't see any point in demoing the machines that don't have an integrated platform on the back.

I like our Ramrod also. We have the Kubota Diesel engine in ours. It sips fuel and seems to have plenty of power. The only downside of the diesel versus the gas is that ground speed is slower on the diesel, but doesn't compare to the power.
