I have a 2000 F-250 with 7.3 PS Diesel, It has the four speed auto tranny. I have 111,000 miles on the truck, and have worked it all its life. It is nothing for that truck to weigh 24,000 to 25,900 lbs. with a trailer in tow. It is licensed for 26,000. Not problems except the truck will not crank if the temp is less than 40F or plugged in. Ether will work if its an emergency. Glow Plugs are not working properly. and the stinking power door locks don't often work. Love the truck though.
We also have a 1999 F-350, same motor and trans. as above. This truck has 160,00 miles, we bought it used 30,000 miles ago and have replaced the right front wheel bearing, but nothing else with the exception of power door locks not working.
Mileage on these trucks 7 or less loaded heavy.
12 - 14 city
17 or so on highway (speeds less than 70 mph)
We have a couple of dumps, tandem and 2 1/2 ton fords, but they are straight drives and a little older.
