2 days at most. rd-up is a systemic meaning it requires contact with plant tissues. it will have a soil life (the residue) but not one that will actively harm plant tissue after 24 hours. the residue's soil life is only detrimental to the organisms in the soil.
the dead weeds will create a husk that will take up space. these husks look unnattractive and can be tilled away making it look nicer and improving the soil.
tilling is really important. roots grow in the air spaces in the soil. the more you open the soil the better your plant will grow.
