I agree with Fine Edge. A crown is just going to complicate things. Two things to think about which has helped us in the past. Consider pouring a concrete slab for 2-3' outside of the garage. Over the years this area takes a beating and winds up developing ruts. The slab has helped prevent this. Also, think about having an asphalt driveway company do the rip out and prep. They can do it much faster and get your base closer with their equipment.
