mrusk, I notice that you take opportunities in posts to take jabs at others seemingly unneccessarily. From where I sit it often looks unprovoked. I'm not going to do anything about it right now, because it's pretty minor. Just know that I've taken notice.

@ Raj - I don't have experience with that particular compactor (we have a Bomag 4545), but I'd have to agree with the others here that a bigger compactor may do some serious damage to pavers. A local contractor here (that had little experience with pavers) did their parking lot in pavers; not being fully versed in how those kinds of things are done, had a huge vibratory roller (the kind they use to compact asphalt roads) go over the tops of the pavers. Lots of pavers died that day.

And while you're shopping for compactors, you might also consider a jumping jack/rammer. Great for along foundations, especially if you have clay soils and are building steps from a patio to a doorway. You can pick one up on eBay for a few hundred up to a few thousand.
