I work for an engineering company that has a very nice one. It is made b Leitz (who I think actually makes the Stanley), but it is much nicer. It has a viewer and a level bubble which keeps you knowing what you are measuring and keeping your shot straight as well.

I've only used it indoors measuring condos. That one runs about $400. Locating trees on a sight is pretty sloppy anyway, so I'll stick with the $100 one.
