VoodooChile is on a distinguished road
Plant of the Week 70 is Blackhaw Viburnum, Viburnum prunifolium.

Congratulations to phototropic1, Ax Man, rivergirl, jon korevec, bcx400, and jwholden, who got it exactly right.

Since this viburnum is also very similiar to Nannyberry, Viburnum lentago, I'll accept that as correct and applaud TrickyDick, agla and hnbullock for their perserverance.

jwholden knew it was a Viburnum.

Many folks guessed Serviceberry, Hawthorn, and Chokeberry. These are all great native plants, and have many similiarities to POTW70, but one major and easy distinction is leaf arrangement. POTW70's leaves are arranged oppositely, as seen in the picture, while Serviceberry, Hawhthorn and Chokeberry all have leaves that are arranged alternately.
