I am all about security and money. It's not as much about new as it is about warranty and finance rates.

Used anything has high interest rates and I hate giving my money away. (We just paid off 2 trucks early this year. 1 was 2 + 1/2 years early and we saved $3500 in interest)

Used also often means 30 day warranties. I am not a mechanic. My partner is not a mechanic. So with an extended warranty of 3 years "bumper to bumper" that is security for us.

For that same 50k range, there are plenty of CAT 420D IT units for sale within 200 miles of us. I would prefer that unit 10 times over, however, not for 7-10% finance rate on a loan OR non-warrantied problems say next spring when I have 0 time to deal with it.

However, I am expecting a 2nd class piece of equipment. If it weren't, everyone would be rockin a terex and not JD or CAT.
