When we point our bluestone we use a very dry mix kinda like wet crumbled graham crackers. Doing it this way keeps from making a huge mess on the bluestone. Just throw a trowl full on top of the bluestone and move it into the joints and press into place with a pointing iron. If it gets too dry just keep a bottle around full of water and dip your pointing iron into it. Goes very fast.
We have tried the pastery bag method and it seems like it makes more of a mess and takes longer, not to mention trying to get the consistency correct.
